PhD OPPORTUNITY - The Veeramah Lab, Stony Brook University, New York, USA

The Veeramah Lab is looking to recruit two PhD Students to begin in Fall 2017. The primary focus of the lab is examining genetic diversity in human and non-human primates. The lab currently has ongoing projects examining primate evolution through genomic scale data, as well as a variety of paleogenomic projects involving European human and non-human populations. The exact research project topics for potential students are flexible, but those individuals looking to perform research within the general research themes of the lab will be preferred. Funded PhD studentship on computational functional morphology to start Fall 2017 working alongside Jen Bright at the University of South Florida (http://www.usf.edu/). The research is on the link between form and function in the skeleton, particularly in the evolution of bird beaks and skulls. The funding is not tied to specific question and new ideas are welcomed. As the work is extensively with geometric morphometrics and Finite Element Analysis,  these becoming a vital part of the candidate’s toolkit.
